Is illness like the flu or a cold in the US considered as a communicable disease?
Many diseases that cause infection are not an obstacle to entry into to the United States under the visa-free program. If you are suffering from one of the diseases that cause infection it is necessary to mention this on your ESTA application. Once you have been cured, you can declare you’re completely healed, but you will require confirmation that you are not infected.
The infectious diseases that are under review are as follows:
- Chancroid
- Gonorrhoea
- Granuloma inguinale
- Leprosy, infectiousma
- Lymphogranuloma venereum
- Syphilis (infectious stage)
- Tuberculosis (active)
